Greatly inspired by His Imperial Majesty teachings, Million Stylez & Costa Rebel got together to express their feelings & thoughts about political injustice, racism and oppression with a conscious dancehall song “Murdera”. Affected by all the situations that we are going through today around the world, they decided it is the perfect time to release it officially for the masses to hear.
In all the countries Costa Rebel has visited, he has noticed that people of all ages love the rhythmic pattern and original sound of old school dancehall. “There are parties playing oldies allover the world” he said. He believes that Dancehall should stick to its essence and only modernise its sound and textures with new technology and instruments. Million Stylez agreed with this idea and they start working on their upcoming EP “Million Stylez meets Costa Rebel”. They took influences from Rub-a-Dub, Dancehall and even Ska! The result is a fresh sound with a nostalgic twist of Roots and Dancehall. A totally new experience for everyone born after the year 2000.
“Murdera” shows Million Stylez & Costa Rebel’s love for dancehall riddims released around 2002. Strings, heavy bass, synth melodies and the punchy drum pattern we all love. On the lyrics we get a heavy message with a powerful delivery. We all know the swedish singjay for his ability to use a wide variety of styles and this time he used a very original one from the millions he has, showing us more of his own voice and personality.
As the second single from the upcoming EP “Million Stylez meets Costa Rebel”, “Murdera” will be available on all digital platforms on August 28, and it is now available for iTunes pre-order.
