“Jesus Party Vol. 1” on the US iTunes Electronic Chart a year after its initial release. The 11-song compilation officially came out on March 4, 2022 and includes a variety of high-tempo Christian dance tracks that even atheists would enjoy. Skerrit Bwoy attributes this recent success due to the growing popularity of the #JesusPartyChallenge created by Jamaican viral dancing sensation Drip King on TikTok. The title song “Jesus Party” is the second track on the album and is a dance anthem for Christians to celebrate with anytime.
Skerrit Bwoy said, “I decided that I wanted to make it possible for Christians to have music and a place to celebrate every day. That’s when the Holy Spirit gave me the hook, ‘Every day, we party and a turn up in a Jesus’ name.’”
“Jesus Party” was produced by Skerrit Bwoy himself with the creative mixing done at his Electric Gospel studio in the Bronx, New York. He recorded the lead vocals at Rawson Studio in Brooklyn, New York to get an analog-type grit in the vocals. Then everything was sent over to M1 Mixing and Mastering in Canada to get it commercially polished to international standards.
Dancers that some may not consider Christians started doing the challenge. People from Japan, Korea, Latvia, UK, Antigua, Nigeria, Columbia, and other places are joining in this challenge.
Skerrit Bwoy said that he “was almost in tears over the outpouring of support” after a friend brought the chart to his attention while “Jesus Party” was at #47. He then appealed to family, friends and fans to amp up support. Though it took a while, the “Jesus Party Vol. 1” album eventually reached #1 on iTunes Electronic Chart on March 8, 2023. It also hit #115 overall on the entire platform and the single peaked at #7.
“Only God and the community can pull off a move like that. You can correct me if I’m wrong, but I have never seen a song about Jesus reach #1 on the Electronic Chart before. I am incredibly humbled and grateful to everyone that is still purchasing the album even now, to keep up charting,” says an elated and grateful Skerrit Bwoy.
After accepting Jesus Christ as his personal God and Savior on November 20th, 2011, Skerrit Bwoy attended Nyack College, now known as Alliance University in New York City where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music, Pastoral Ministry, and Computer Science. He has just returned to school to further his education towards a Master of Divinity, with a concentration on Church Development.
This husband, father of 4 children and former Dancehall daggering king, born Dale Richardson from Antigua, is steadfast in his musical journey with the hope that “Jesus Party” can be the one to open doors to invite the world to a more fun relationship with Jesus. Skerrit Bwoy wants to make an even more significant and wholesome impact on the world with this style of Electric Gospel music.
